Swedish Women's Educational Association Las Vegas is part of a global network dedicated to preserving and promoting Swedish language, culture, and traditions throughout the world. Established in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1996, the organization has grown to serve approximately 40 members across the Las Vegas area and surrounding regions. As a chapter of the international SWEA organization—present in over 30 countries with thousands of members worldwide—the Las Vegas branch offers a unique platform for Swedish-speaking women to connect, learn, and celebrate their heritage. The organization facilitates a diverse range of activities designed to engage members and foster community, including guided city walks exploring Las Vegas, desert excursions through Nevada's natural landscapes, educational talks on Swedish topics, seasonal celebrations, and social mingling events. These programs are strategically distributed throughout Las Vegas and the surrounding areas, ensuring accessibility for members across the region. SWEA Las Vegas serves as an extension of the parent organization's mission to protect Swedish cultural identity abroad while building meaningful personal networks. The broader SWEA International organization, founded in 1979, grants approximately 250,000 annually in donations and scholarships, and maintains an important role in supporting Swedish interests globally. By joining SWEA Las Vegas, members gain access to this expansive international network while enjoying locally-organized activities that strengthen connections within the Nevada Swedish community.
