About Swedish Women’s Educational Association Austin

SWEA Austin was founded in 2005. We are a relatively small chapter, with 40-50 members. Austin has deep Swedish roots, so it has been exciting to discover all the Swedish connections.

SWEA (Swedish Women’s Educational Association) is a global network for all Swedish and Swedish speaking women to bond together through common roots. With over 6000 members it’s the largest non-profit Sweden-promoting organization outside Sweden.

We have some activities every year based on Swedish traditions: Valborg, midsummer, cancer disk, Lucia. We get together and watch movies, the melody festival, and music. There are toddler groups that meet periodically so the children can get to know each other and hear Swedish. Sometimes a group meets at a restaurant and eats dinner or enjoys Happy Hour.

A membership in SWEA provides a strong connection with other women with the same experiences in a unique international women's network! SWEA's motto is Local support, Global friendship and Global competence.
