Swedish Club of San Francisco and Bay Area

The Swedish Club of San Francisco and Bay Area is a cultural organization dedicated to promoting and preserving Swedish heritage throughout the greater Bay Area. Based in Burlingame, CA, the club serves as a vibrant hub for cultural exchange and community engagement, offering members and guests a comprehensive calendar of Swedish cultural programming and social activities. The organization specializes in authentic cultural experiences, including traditional Swedish celebrations such as the annual Julfest and Lucia party in December, the celebrated Crayfish dinner each fall, wine tasting picnics, and the renowned Midsummer celebration held at Sveadal in June. Monthly gatherings held the second Wednesday of each month in Burlingame feature dinner, beverages, and programs highlighting various aspects of Swedish culture, from traditional music and dancing to ethnic enlightenment and holiday customs. With approximately 107 active members, the club welcomes individuals with Swedish heritage, other Scandinavians, and those interested in exploring Swedish culture. Since its establishment in 1913 by Dr. A.O. Lindstrom and a group of Bay Area Swedish businessmen, the club has evolved from its original networking mission into a comprehensive cultural organization. Today, it continues to enhance relationships between Sweden and America while celebrating Swedish customs, traditions, and cultural heritage in the heart of the Bay Area community.
